Gloria Clifford ~ About the Artist
While living in the Florida Keys, artist Gloria Clifford, found her passion as a painter. The subjects she saw firsthand while living in south Florida… the exotic birds, tropical plants, colorful flowers, and sea creatures became the images which she now paints exclusively. Although Gloria has painted many subjects since becoming an artist at the age of twelve, no other subjects have given her as much pleasure as those of the tropics! Working in three mediums: watercolor, acrylics and in oils, this artist uses the most vivid hues that she can find. Her bold use of color has indeed become her trademark. In each work of art that she creates, the artist’s love of color, life, and nature comes through loud and clear in every painting and in every single image.

“I try to imagine each bird, animal or plant in its natural habitat when I envision a composition for a painting. It is very important to me that we preserve the wonderful gifts which are found in nature and in our oceans, not only for ourselves, but also for all future generations. By using the sometimes endangered subjects and animals in my works of art, I hope that others who own and are drawn to my paintings will be reminded just how beautiful our world truly is. We are ultimately all responsible for the survival of the creatures of the Earth and we are all connected and need one another in order to thrive both physically and emotionally.”

Every year, the artist donates several of her original works of art to the cause of children to help them in some special way. She has known firsthand the loss of two of her own dear children, her twin daughters, Tiffany and Rachael. “Children love my work”, the artist states, “because I use such bold and colorful images in my paintings!” Gloria has not only donated her works of art but her time as well, working with adults and children over many years, teaching them about the animals that she paints. Her greatest desire is that by doing so, she is helping to preserve these animals and ocean creatures that she loves so much.
Gloria states that she feels “to be an artist is not only an incredible gift but also a big responsibility”. One cannot look at this artist’s paintings without feeling the joy that comes through her colorful works of art! “I actually lose myself when I am painting, everything else in my life ceases to exist and I imagine that I am in the rainforests or swimming in the ocean when I am working. To have a career that I love this much is unbelievably rewarding…… I am truly blessed!”

“I hope that when you look upon one of my paintings, you will feel the warmth of the sun on your face and that you too, will be able to see the beauty found in tropical places that have brought me so much joy. I consider it an honor to be an artist and a privilege to share my love for life with others through my works of art!”
